7 things you need to know about collagen!
Collagen is the most abundant protein in our body.
- It is an essential component of skin, bones, teeth, nails, hair, eyes, connective tissue, organs and cartilage. Here are six things you need to know about collagen!
- It is the protein found in the largest quantities in our bodies: it makes up 30% of our body protein, 70% of skin protein and 80% of bone protein. It is also an important component of arteries, organs and intestines.
- With the passage of time we lose collagen stores: from the age of 25 we start to lose 1% collagen each year. By the age of 40/50 we have lost about 25% of our collagen!
- Signs that you need a collagen booster: superficial wrinkles, flabby skin, dark spots, worsening skin texture, brittle hair and nails, intestinal problems
- The benefits of collagen: reduces skin ageing by improving elasticity and hydration, improves muscles, reduces joint pain and stiffness, supports cartilage health by improving bone mineral density and reduces tendonitis.
- Types of collagen: there are 29 types of collagen, types 1,2 and 3 make up 90 per cent of our collagen.
- Supplementing collagen supplies: we can introduce more collagen from red meat, or with collagen supplements or even with vitamins that support collagen synthesis, such as vitamin c, magnesium and zinc.
At Samsara Medical Centre, we have designed specific non-invasive protocols for stimulating collagen production, such as Non-Invasive Microbotox, Renew&Glow. We then carry out injection treatments to stimulate collagen production, such as biorevititalisation.
