PRP: what it is and why it is so good for the skin
First of all, what does PRP mean? It stands for Platelet Rich Plasma.
This is the most natural biostimulant that can be used as it is obtained directly from a patient's blood sample taken just before the treatment. Once the blood has been taken, the test tube is placed in a special centrifuge that separates the plasma from the rest of the blood. The plasma thus obtained will immediately be used by the doctor to carry out the treatment session. 100% natural!
How is it applied?
With a series of superficial microinjections distributed in the skin areas of the face, neck or décolleté, or scalp, where the bio-stimulating effect is to be achieved. The application of an anaesthetic cream before the treatment can make the treatment more pleasant.
The benefits of PRP include, first and foremost, a strong stimulation of collagen synthesis and a slowing down of the cellular ageing process (and thus of the entire treated tissue). These actions make the skin look progressively more radiant and firm.
To ensure that the results are more evident over time, it is advisable to perform the treatment initially on a monthly or at most quarterly basis, depending on the subjective needs of the patient, and then move on to a maintenance phase in which sessions are every 6 to 12 months.
It is one of the most popular aesthetic medicine treatments at our centre in Lugano, if you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact us!
