What is it for

Deka's Alexandrite Again laser is an exclusively medical technology that to date represents the Gold Standard in achieving truly progressive facial and body hair removal. In fact, it is the winner of the Aesthetic Medicine Awards 2022 in Monte Carlo, which recognises doctors and companies in the industry for their innovative approach in the field of aesthetic and anti-ageing medicine. Given that the use of waxing and razor blades for hair removal often leads to the appearance of conspicuous and annoying folliculitis in sensitive skin, this treatment can be used to put an end to this problem too. The particularity of the Alexandrite Laser, which sets it apart from other treatments or other laser technologies, is certainly its precision and selective ability to target the melanin in the hair bulb, without affecting the structure and integrity of the surrounding skin tissues. It is suitable for treating skin up to phototypes III/IV.

How it works

The laser is able to selectively target the melanin present in the hair bulbs (selective photothermolysis), destroying the germinative cells of the hair root. The darker the hair, the greater the level of effectiveness of the laser. By targeting the hair root cells, once these are irreparably damaged the hair cannot regenerate and the hair removal is therefore permanent. This is thanks to the Moveo technology, which enables the treatment to be carried out faster and more pleasantly, making this laser more efficient and high-performance. The follicle needs to be treated in several sessions for the effects to be considered permanent. The laser emission is accompanied by a cooling of the skin surface to ensure a more comfortable treatment for the patient.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions does this treatment require?

The number of sessions may vary depending on the starting situation and the area to be treated. A consultation is advisable to assess the needs of each specific case. On average, at least 4 sessions are needed to obtain stable and definitive results, and it is important to follow the advice given to optimise the results.

How effective is it really?

Alexandrite is still today the most effective laser technology for managing unwanted hair. From the very first session you will notice a visible reduction of unwanted hairs, gradually leading to their complete and definitive elimination.

How often is the treatment applied?

The first sessions are carried out every 30 days, but from the third session onwards the time between treatments becomes longer as the hairs weaken and reduce in number, requiring more time to regrow after each session.

What to do before each treatment?

It is important to avoid sun exposure to the areas to be treated in the 6-8 weeks preceding each session (the skin of the treated areas should be its normal colour). Waxing should also be avoided in the 4 weeks prior to treatment, as the hair bulbs must all be present at each session. Finally, it is recommended that you come to the session with very short or razor-shaven hairs to be treated. It is necessary to inform the doctor of any ongoing drug therapies, as some drugs can increase the skin's sensitivity to the laser, causing unexpected sunburn.

What should I do after the treatment?

You can immediately return to normal daily activities as no convalescence is required. You may experience a slight sensation of hypersensitivity in the treated areas for a few hours, accompanied by reddening of the follicles.

Side effects?

The treated area is rarely reddened for more than a few hours and there may be slight discomfort that will resolve spontaneously. It is contraindicated to expose oneself to the sun earlier than 3 weeks after the last treatment session.
