What it is for
It is a special filler (filler) used in the treatment of the face and some parts of the body that provides an almost instantaneous lifting effect that improves in the months following treatment. Radiesse is very effective in eliminating even moderate to severe wrinkles with both toning and volumising effects where required. The lifting and revitalising capacities of Radiesse are superior to any other filler currently on the market and to hyaluronic acid itself as it has a very low tendency to retain water, thus significantly reducing the albeit temporary effects of localised swelling induced by many fillers. Another advantage of Radiesse is that it does not cause allergic reactions as it is completely biocompatible. Undoubtedly Radiesse is a very valid alternative to more invasive treatments. It is ideal for the treatment not only of wrinkles and skin laxity, but also for certain areas of the body prone to sagging such as the arms, abdomen and thighs, and for all purposes where collagen regeneration plays a decisive role in the required results.
How it works
Radiesse has obtained both CE certification from the European Union and strict authorisation from the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA). Radiesse's technology is based on the use of an injectable compound consisting of an aqueous solution with 30% synthetic calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres. Calcium hydroxyapatite is not only effective but also 100% biocompatible. The injected solution may also contain a very small percentage of anaesthetic, which eliminates any post-treatment pain or discomfort. Unlike other fillers, Radiesse requires less product (about 30% less) to achieve the same effects. Therefore, the invasiveness of the treatment solution is greatly reduced, while maintaining its effectiveness. The product can also be diluted, allowing for a more diffuse and less filler-intensive treatment, which enables the biostimulating properties of this product to be extended to virtually all areas of the body.
Frequently Asked Questions
On average, the effects last about 12 months with peaks of 18 months. Therefore, yearly treatments are usually recommended, although each patient has different needs and starting point and will therefore also require individualised advice on maintenance.
Initially, one to two sessions are sufficient for a complete facial treatment. Rarely it is necessary to repeat the treatment in specific areas that require further sessions closer together in time.
Practically absent. In some cases there is a slight redness in the treated areas that disappears spontaneously after a few hours. Bruising is rare because the injection technique is almost always through the cannula, which by its nature is micro-invasive and micro-traumatic.
It is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation and in all situations that may present unexpected connective tissue reactions (connectivitis).
