What is it for

Aesthetic treatment that acts through a direct action on the microcirculation, drastically improving its function, thus clearly reducing all those imperfections linked to a dysfunction in this particular area, especially indicated for the treatment of cellulite and water retention. Sometimes also useful in the treatment of localised adiposity, included in particular treatment protocols. Carboxytherapy is minimally invasive and acts through micro-administration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in its gaseous state directly into the subcutaneous layer. It improves peripheral blood flow (microcirculation). It is sometimes very useful in the management of red stretch marks (the early ones), with rapid attenuation of their colour. The undoubtedly most important and always guaranteed effect is that of a pleasant feeling of lightness with an effective reduction in swelling of the lower limbs.

How it works

Through a very small needle, carbon dioxide (CO2) in its gaseous state is injected into the subcutis. When the gas is under the skin, it is exchanged by the body for oxygen. This reflexively creates a hyper-oxygenation of the treated tissues with an immediate improvement in skin elasticity, a visible reduction in typical cellulite blemishes, an improvement in blood and lymphatic microcirculation and finally a visible reduction in water retention. Carboxytherapy is often combined with other complementary treatments to maximise the effects in a synergic manner.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions does this treatment require?

Several sessions are generally required to achieve optimal and stable results over time. On average, 8 to 10 sessions are recommended. The frequency of applications, usually weekly, and their total number is programmed according to the objectives, the imperfections to be treated and the size of the area concerned. After the first cycle, the repetition of maintenance sessions, which are scheduled less frequently, is considered.

How long does each session last?

The duration is variable, but usually does not exceed 20 minutes.

Is it painful?

It can be moderately uncomfortable, in some cases, only during the subcutaneous injection of CO2. However, it is well tolerated and no anaesthesia is required. In the days following each session, the feeling of 'lightness' of the treated areas is very noticeable, especially when it comes to the legs and thighs.

Side effects?

Immediately after treatment, the treated area may show a slight swelling (caused by the injected volume of CO2), which subsides spontaneously within a few minutes, and in some cases small transient bruising may be observed.

Contraindications?

The treatment is definitely contraindicated in cases of pregnancy and lactation, but also in severe cases of arterial hypertension or respiratory, renal, hepatic or cardiac insufficiency.
