Skincare and skin: 6 interesting facts

What happens to the skin when we apply a hyaluronic acid cosmetic product?

  1. Hyaluronic acid is a very useful molecule for our skin, but when applied in the form of a serum, mask or cream, it remains on the surface because the molecules are very large and therefore the skin cannot absorb them. This allows us to maintain a very good surface hydration, but when we wash our face in the evening, the benefits are lost. You can reapply the product at night to maintain the 'film' effect that attracts water and keeps the skin hydrated. It should be remembered that it does not enrich the hyaluronic acid that supports our dermis in depth, as is the case with fillers, biorevititalisation or other treatments for deep skin stimulation.
  2. Enlarged pores cannot be closed, in fact they are essential for the escape of sebum from our skin, but they can be tightened with specific treatments or skincare products.
  3. Washing the face several times a day does not reduce the oiliness of the skin, but skincare suitable for this skin type is important to regulate sebum production and eliminate impurities that may form.
  4. Oily skin also needs to be moisturised, but using lighter, water-based serums that do not weigh the skin down.
  5. Skincare products do not lose their effectiveness and the skin does not get used to a product, our skin simply changes needs over time and according to the season.
  6. Anti-ageing products should be used before the effects of ageing are visible, so that this process can be slowed down.
