We dispel 4 myths about SKINCARE

The Samsara Medical Centre in Lugano is committed not only to offering the best treatments, but also to disseminating correct information about skin and its care. That is why today we want to dispel four skincare myths.

  1. Moisturising face cream cannot also be used around the eyes: FALSE, this is a delicate area, where the skin is thinner and more reactive, but if you use your own face cream over the eyelids nothing usually happens. The important thing is that the cream does not contain retinol, salicylic acid, glycolic acid or other irritants.
  2. There is no difference between day cream and night cream: FALSE, the former can also be used during the night, while the latter contains no SPF, which is obviously not necessary during the night. Moreover, night cream can often contain photosensitising substances such as retinol, glycolic acid...
  3. Vitamin C should only be used at night: FALSE, it is an excellent ally for protecting the skin from oxidation caused by the sun and ageing, it is a strong moisturiser and makes dark spots less visible.
  4. All peels cause exfoliation: FALSE, products containing acids can have a different concentration and depending on this they can either cause exfoliation or smooth the skin more superficially. For example our Active Peel, has a composition of a serum and does not exfoliate, but smoothes the skin and can be used in all seasons.
