Radiofrequency

Medical Radiofrequency and Aesthetic Radiofrequency. Discover the differences, characteristics, actions and effectiveness

Radiofrequency is a non-invasive treatment that uses the action of electromagnetic waves to combat various types of imperfections such as skin laxity, wrinkles and cellulite. It is a non-invasive technique with no side effects. It is a painless treatment that allows immediate resumption of all activities and can be carried out at any time of year (even in summer).

MEDICAL radiofrequency should not be confused with AESTHETIC radiofrequency, the effectiveness of which in terms of the results obtained and their duration is far inferior to medical radiofrequency.

The main difference between these two types lies in the devices used: medical devices use more power and allow the intensity of the electromagnetic current delivered to be adjusted in order to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment; aesthetic devices have less power and the intensity of the electromagnetic current delivered cannot reach that used by medical devices.

The action of medical radiofrequency consists in the production of heat that is emitted into the skin through the passage of the electromagnetic current that propagates in depth to obtain different effects: collagen formation and stimulation of fibroblast activity with consequent production of elastin to maintain a toned and youthful skin.

In order to obtain appreciable results, a single session is not enough, but a complete cycle of several sessions is required (the number of sessions depends on the type of blemish to be treated, its severity and extent).

To maintain the effects obtained with radiofrequency it is necessary to perform maintenance sessions, also to counteract natural skin ageing. In aesthetic medicine there are two types of radiofrequency: monopolar and multipolar.

The main difference between the two types lies in the thermal energy emitted: the monopolar (equipped with a single pole) allows heat to be transferred deep into the adipose tissue, thus exerting a targeted action on localised fat; the multipolar (equipped with positive and negative poles) allows work on the more superficial skin tissue, improving the appearance of cellulite and promoting skin firming.
