Can I use a razor blade after laser hair removal?
Very often we are asked this question after patients undergo a laser hair removal session: can I pass the razor blade when it grows back?
Because we must be clear on this point, superfluous hairs are not eliminated immediately, but will continue to grow back some and become smaller and smaller.
The answer is YES, between one session and the next we can safely pass the razor blade over the areas we are treating with laser hair removal because it does not affect the hair bulb and allows us to always be tidy between sessions.
What to do before a laser session?
First of all, the area to be treated must be depilated with a razor blade at least 4 or 5 days beforehand, so that the hair has time to grow back by 3/4 millimetres and allow for a more comfortable session and more effective treatment. Secondly, the skin must not be tanned as this could cause burns (as the laser acts on melanin).
After how long does the hair fall out?
This type of laser hair removal treatment guarantees efficient and progressively definitive results, but this does not mean that one session is enough. Already from the first time it will be possible to see clear improvements in the quantity and thickness of the hair. Each case is different as we have a different skin, phototype and hair type, so results may vary from case to case.
If I am taking the antibiotic, can I still have the treatment?
This must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, depending on the type of antibiotic being taken. In fact, not all antibiotics are photosensitisers, i.e. they can make the skin more sensitive to sun exposure with the risk of creating spots.
