How does stress affect the health of our skin?
Stress is a factor that strongly influences the state and health of our skin! Let's take a closer look at why there is such a direct correlation.
We often hear that the skin is one of the first alarm bells of our health, and we cannot help but confirm these rumours. A real vicious circle is thus created.
When we go through periods of stress in our body, the adrenal glands are activated. They are responsible for secreting different hormones that are essential for performing numerous physiological functions, including regulating blood pressure, metabolism and controlling the proper functioning of the immune system.
If overstimulated, these glands produce an excessive amount of hormones, leading to undesirable effects.
These include over-stimulation of sebaceous follicles, which in turn increase sebum production.
Consequently, a strong increase in sebum generates the appearance of pimples and other impurities on our skin. Undoubtedly, the presence of these imperfections is not good for our psycho-physical well-being, causing further stress and thus a vicious circle.
Our skin must be listened to, it warns us when something is wrong, even internally! If you would like to have a free consultation at our centre and answer any doubts or questions about this, or if you would like to take care of your skin, do not hesitate to contact us!
