5 myths about peeling

Peelings are among the most popular treatments, especially during the winter period!
That is why so many things are said about their benefits, the best time to do them... is it all true?

Here are five myths to dispel about peeling:

  • Peels can only be done in winter: untrue, some types of peeling cannot be done during the summer because they cause too much exfoliation and, given the high temperatures and increased exposure to sunlight, their use is strongly discouraged. There are, however, some gentler peelings, which act on the surface, without causing inflammation or photogenicity.
  • If I do a peel, I will have to wait a long time before I can leave the house: untrue, this depends on the type of peel, the gentler ones do not cause exfoliation and you can therefore return to your routine immediately after the treatment, while the deeper ones take a maximum of 5 to 7 days for the skin to return to an optimal state
  • Peelings are indicated for those with skin-related problems: false, even those with no particular imperfections can have a peeling to promote cell turnover, minimise small surface wrinkles and make the skin more radiant
  • If you have sensitive skin, you cannot have an exfoliation: untrue, in this case there are specific exfoliations for this skin type, which help to treat skin imperfections without causing irritation in people who already have very sensitive skin
  • All peelings cause exfoliation: untrue, depending on the goals one wants to achieve and the individual needs of the skin, one can decide on a superficial peeling, which acts very lightly, or a deeper one, which causes visible exfoliation and sometimes even redness

At our centre we offer a wide range of peelings, adapted to the different skin needs of our patients and customisable from case to case.
