Myths and truths about nutrition: is it true that pineapple burns fat?
Very often we read dietary advice on eating certain foods that can 'burn' our body fat, as a quick and practical way to lose weight and reshape our bodies.
We asked our nutritionist Valentina what she thought, and here is her answer:
What is the answer? No! There is no such thing as a fat-burning food. But why do these myths about pineapple exist?
In fact, pineapple contains an enzyme, bromelain. This substance is a proteolytic enzyme with an effect on protein digestion. But that's not all! It has an excellent anti-inflammatory effect and helps in the drainage of extra-cellular fluids.
Therefore, it can be helpful in counteracting cellulite (which is an inflammatory process) and water retention (which is an accumulation of extra-cellular fluid).
